Understand the behaviour.
I’m interested in why a system works the way it does, from the signal on a pin to the workflow that exposes it to someone using the product.
ABOUT / SAM UDAYANGA
I’m an electronics and embedded engineer based in Melbourne, with a career spanning connected products, wireless care systems, power electronics and embedded Linux.

THE ENGINEER BEHIND THE WORK
I started my professional electronics career in 2016. At Kasper Global, I progressed from Electronics Engineer to Senior Electronics Engineer and then Chief Electronics Engineer. The work took me across PCB design, embedded firmware, sensing, mechanical integration and manufacturing support.
Leadership didn’t take me away from building. I continued working hands-on with firmware, hardware prototypes and debugging while helping coordinate the engineering work around them.
My Australian experience has broadened that perspective: wireless nurse-call and care electronics at Horizon, battery and inverter integration at Clenergy, and embedded controller development at Accesstel.
Today, I work with embedded Linux and connected power equipment, bringing together device communication, useful controls and the practical task of making changes behave correctly on the target hardware.

I’m interested in why a system works the way it does, from the signal on a pin to the workflow that exposes it to someone using the product.
I follow work through prototypes, implementation, validation and the questions that come from manufacturing and integration.
My work connects electronics, firmware, mechanical design and software teams. A shared understanding helps decisions survive beyond a single discipline.
Bench measurements, target checks and device feedback help turn an assumption into an engineering decision.
EDUCATION
Sheffield Hallam University, via SLIIT · 2014
Autonomous quadcopter with stereo vision.
Positive engineering skills assessment from Engineers Australia.
BEYOND THE DAY JOB
A developing idea for bringing visibility across code, services and CAN data into one engineering workspace. The direction includes live dashboards and AI-assisted checks; it remains a personal exploration.
I’m exploring Python automation and agent-assisted development workflows, including clearer handovers between implementation, testing and build review.
