Making batteries
and inverters work together.

Embedded development and hardware investigation across battery management, PV inverters and energy storage systems.

Conceptual technical illustration of a battery system, BMS and inverter
Conceptual energy-system illustration; not an implementation schematic.

01 / OVERVIEW

Battery integration depends on clear communication between the BMS, the inverter and the wider control system.

02 / THE CHALLENGE

Where the engineering
gets interesting.

An energy system combines devices with different responsibilities, communication requirements and operating limits. Integration work needs to make those boundaries predictable while identifying hardware issues before deployment.

03 / MY CONTRIBUTION

The work I brought
to the system.

01

BMS and inverter interoperability

Improved communication between battery management and inverter systems to enable 40 kW parallel battery integration.

02

Embedded software

Developed C / C++ software for communication and signal-processing functions in energy-system applications.

03

Power electronics development

Worked on hardware and firmware for PV inverter and energy storage products, connecting software behaviour with the underlying electronics.

04

Board-level investigation

Investigated and resolved Phase-1 PCB faults before deployment, using hardware debugging as part of the product-development process.

04 / VALIDATION

Check the behaviour.

The engineering work combined communication debugging, product testing and PCB fault investigation. Technical documentation supported the connection between a diagnosed issue, the change made and the behaviour that needed to be checked.

  • 40 kW parallel battery integration
  • BMS / inverter communication
  • PCB debugging before deployment

05 / OUTCOME & REFLECTION

What the work adds up to.

The BMS / inverter communication work enabled 40 kW parallel battery integration. Hardware fault resolution also formed part of preparing the Phase-1 design for deployment.

A communication problem can look like a hardware problem, and the reverse is also true. I approach integration by checking each layer rather than assuming the fault belongs to a single component.
